Pathway to becoming a qualified teacher in the UK for BN(O) Hongkongers

Co-organised with HKG International. We invited Teach First to share specifically with the Hong Kong diasporic community on how to obtain a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with salary support.

It is not uncommon to witness newly arrived Hong Kong teachers, or aspiring teachers, struggling for official recognition of professional qualification in the UK. Relevant information and guidance might be seen scattered across the internet, there has been, however, a lack of centralised and detailed official advice for Hong Kong teachers in the UK in this regard.

To shed light on this issue, we invited Teach First to share specifically with the Hong Kong diasporic community on how to obtain a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with salary support. Teach First is an UK charity funded by the Department of Education.

The webinar also featured two Hong Kong experienced teachers, who have successfully been employed by local schools, to share job hunting tips within the UK education sectors. They are, as well, keen to share their interview and teaching experience in the UK, hoping to facilitate passionate teachers to join us in contributing in the classroom and the community in the UK.
